MediaTek Inc. a Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company announces ‘MediaTek Helio G85’ series of SoC for the smartphones, which is based on the 12nm technology and with a 2+6 Core arrangement.

The ‘MediaTek Helio G85’ series SoC are gaming chipset for mobile devices and expected to come with much higher performance improvements. This chipset is seen as a mobile chipset for everyday games as this chipset is expected to provide high performance in mobile gaming.

With this announcement the MediaTek’s Helio G-series got a new member in this series and the ‘MediaTek Helio G85’ SoC is expected to be used in the gaming smartphone in coming days.

The ‘MediaTek Helio G85’ will be used with the Redmi Note 9 smart devices.  In coming months other mobile manufacturing companies are expected to come with new mobile manufactured using ‘MediaTek Helio G85’ chipset.

The ‘MediaTek Helio G85’ chipset, which is announced just now will power next Redmi Note 9 and expected to provide performance boost in case of games and heavy applications. This chipset is designed for gaming mobile devices. Later on this processor is expected to be used in Realme 6i smartphone.

The ‘MediaTek Helio G85’ chipset is based on a 2+6 core arrangement and it will have 2x Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and 6x Cortex-A55 cores. The clock speed is still unknown to us and we are expecting more details in coming months.

The new chipset will use MediaTek’s HyperEngine for increasing the performance of the chipset and to perform better while playing games. The full detail about this processor and technology is still not published by the company.  Company is expected to publish the full specs sheet of this chipset on the official website of the company.

We see only the difference in the clockspeed of these GPUs. According to the official spec sheet of the Redmi Note 9, the Mali G52 MC2 of the Helio G85 is clocked at 1000MHz. But if we see the Helio G80, its GPU is clocked at 950MHz.

The benchmark results shown by Xiaomi in a product launch say that the Helio G85 beats the Exynos 9611 and the Snapdragon 665 processor.

The Helio G85 brings a huge performance bump in the performance as compared to the other processors like Snapdragon 665.

The ‘MediaTek Helio G85’ chipset will certainly bring powerful mobile devices which can be used for playing games and for the demanding mobile applications. So, the game lovers will get more devices options once mobile phones based on the ‘MediaTek Helio G85’ chipset are released in the market.
